About Childhood Chapters
Initially, we were brainstorming ways to help the older generation capture their life stories to be preserved for future generations. But then, one day, while sitting on the back deck watching our niece and nephew play around the pool, Anton—our daughter’s boyfriend—posed a simple yet profound question: “What about looking at the generation below us?”
And just like that, the idea took off!
As is often the case with projects born in a collaborative setting, the one who sparks the idea is usually the one to run with it. That’s exactly what happened here—Scott took the lead, with Anton’s help, while Josie managed their other business, Scott Ellis Reads/Ellis-Audiobooks.
We truly believe this project will resonate with parents and grandparents alike. Watching our niece and nephew grow, we can’t help but wish something like this had existed when our own daughters, Meagan and Mackenzie, were young. We grew up in a transitional era—where film and video cameras were fading out and digital photography was just emerging. The result? Precious memories scattered across old hard drives of long-dead computers and tapes we no longer have the ability to play.
Childhood Chapters is our way of changing that. It’s a way for parents to intentionally capture the best snippets of each month—short video and audio clips woven together into a time capsule for the future. We picture our niece, Lexi (who served as our test run), one day sharing these videos with her own kids and grandkids. Imagine the joy of them watching their mom or grandmother proudly presenting her Kindergarten Butterfly Project!
This is why we created Childhood Chapters—to preserve childhood memories in a way that lasts for generations to come.
